Na Hang – Lam Binh Nature Reserve & Mount Pac Ta Tuyen Quang
Category: Nature Reserve & Inland Mountainous Ha Long | Location: Na Hang & Lam Binh Districts, Tuyen Quang Province
Covering more than 15,000 hectares across Na Hang and Lam Binh districts, the Na Hang Nature Reserve is celebrated as the "Ha Long Bay of the Northern Mountain Wilderness" in Tuyen Quang province. Formed by the grand confluence of the Gam and Nang rivers, this pristine montane lake basin cradles 99 dramatic limestone karst peaks that rise like emerald islands from mirror-still turquoise waters. Dominating the waterscape is Mount Pac Ta, resembling an elephant kneeling peacefully in contemplation, crowned by the sacred Pac Ta Temple at its base. Another geological marvel is Coc Vai Phạ (meaning "Heavenly Buffalo Hitching Post" in the Tay tongue)—a colossal solitary karst pillar jutting tens of meters straight out of the water like a natural obelisk guarding the flooded gorge. Cruising aboard eco-boats on Na Hang Lake leads travelers to hidden gems such as the multi-tiered Khuoi Nhi Waterfall, where visitors enjoy natural spring fish pedicures in cooling rock pools. The voyage includes homestay visits to traditional Tay and Dao stilt hamlets, savoring wild river catfish grilled over open wood fires, and sampling Na Hang’s legendary herb-fermented leaf-yeast corn wine.
