Tay Ninh Holy See – Sacred Grand Temple of Caodaism

Category: Unique Religious Architecture & Global Spiritual Sanctuary | Location: Long Hoa Ward, Hoa Thanh Town, Tay Ninh Province

Located in Hoa Thanh Town just 5 kilometers southeast of Tay Ninh City center, the Tay Ninh Holy See (Đền Thánh Tây Ninh) serves as the supreme international headquarters of Caodaism—a unique syncretic indigenous religion founded in Southern Vietnam in 1926. Constructed between 1931 and 1955 through voluntary labor by thousands of faithful devotees without formal blueprints, the cathedral stands as an architectural wonder fusing Buddhist pagoda roofs, Christian Gothic bell towers, Islamic minaret spires, and Hindu sculpted motifs into a luminous aesthetic harmony, reflecting the foundational doctrine of "All Religions Share One Common Divine Truth" (Vạn Giáo Nhất Lý). The grand temple measures 140 meters in length and 22 meters in width, flanked by twin 36-meter-high bell and drum campaniles rising gracefully into the azure heavens. Stepping into the Great Hall, visitors are greeted by a breathtaking interior stepped into nine hierarchical levels, bordered by two rows of 28 soaring columns enveloped in masterfully sculpted dragons painted in brilliant turquoise, ruby, and gold. Overhead, an azure barrel-vaulted ceiling simulates the celestial heavens, studded with twinkling stars and drifting clouds leading toward the sacred Octagonal Sanctum where the Divine Eye (Thiên Nhãn) gazes down from a giant blue cosmic sphere, symbolizing divine omniscience. Visitors are welcomed to witness the deeply moving liturgical ceremonies held four times daily, with the midday ritual at 12:00 PM being the most visually splendid. Hundreds of male and female devotees in immaculate flowing white Ao Dai robes sit in geometric symmetry upon the polished floor, presided over by dignitaries dressed in symbolic yellow (Buddhism), azure (Taoism), and scarlet (Confucianism) robes chanting melodically to traditional acoustic orchestras, providing international travelers an indelible encounter with Vietnam's profound spiritual harmony.
