Mu Cang Chai Golden Terraces Festival & "Fly Over the Golden Season" Paragliding 2026

Schedule: 10 Tháng 9 – 10 Tháng 10, 2026 (Cao điểm trung tuần Tháng 9) | Location: Vietnam

The Mu Cang Chai Terraced Rice Fields Festival and the "Fly Over the Golden Season" Paragliding Festival are held annually every September in Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province, timed precisely when thousands of hectares of the Special National Heritage terraces ripen into an ocean of blazing gold. It is the premier adventure sport and agricultural heritage event in the Northwestern highlands, drawing adventurers, aerial photographers, and international pilots from around the world. The breathtaking centerpiece is the paragliding festival launching directly from the summit ridge of Khau Pha Pass—one of Vietnam’s four legendary high-altitude passes perched at 1,200 meters. From the breezy cliffside launch ramp, hundreds of brightly colored gliders launch into the open thermals, soaring above mountain clouds to give pilots and tandem passengers an astonishing eagle’s-eye perspective of the golden Lim Mong Valley and cascading rice stairways rippling below. The festival program unfolds with captivating ethnic traditions: high-spirited Hmong round sticky-rice cake (Banh Day) pounding contests, tasting fairs of fragrant freshly harvested Tu Le green rice flakes (com), Hmong panpipe competitions, the "Mu Cang Chai Trail Marathon" winding through picturesque terraced slopes of La Pan Tan and Che Cu Nha, and vibrant campfire dances under the starry highland sky.
