Bach Dang Giang Historical Relic Complex

Category: National Victory Historic Relic | Location: Minh Duc Town, Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City

The Bach Dang Giang Historical Relic Complex, dramatically situated at the historic mouth of the Bach Dang River in Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong, commemorates three of the most legendary naval triumphs in Vietnamese military history. This sacred estuary witnessed King Ngo Quyen's historic victory in 938 AD smashing the Southern Han fleet to terminate a millennium of Chinese domination, Emperor Le Hoan's defeat of the Song invaders in 981, and Supreme Commander Tran Hung Dao's 1288 annihilation of the invading Mongol armada. The sprawling, immaculately preserved riverside complex is centered around the grand Victory Square, dominated by three monumental bronze statues of King Ngo Quyen, Emperor Le Dai Hanh, and Prince Tran Hung Dao surveying the tidal waters. Below the embankment, a reconstructed wooden stake field with iron-tipped timber pilings authentically recreates the brilliant ambush tactics that impaled enemy warships during low tide. Renowned across Vietnam for its exemplary civil management, Bach Dang Giang adheres strictly to a "Three No's" principle: no entrance fees, no commercialized vendors, and no littering. Visitors can explore detailed battlefield dioramas in the historical museum, pay respects at ornate ancestral memorial halls, and absorb the enduring patriotic spirit of Vietnam's naval defense.
